Happy Nyepi (Silence) Day for All Hindu Dharma in Bali and the world.
A year has passed and nother come for Hindu followers in Bali, in Balinese calendar, Nyepi is celebrated every new year of Caka which for the year of 2009 falls in March 26, 2009.
During this silence day (Nyepi) celebration, everyone living and staying in Bali whether Balinese, non-Balinese residents or tourist expected to heed local tradition which brings the entire island to a ghost-town-like standstill.
For the period of 24 hours starts from Thursday morning, March 26, 2009 the island residents must enter into a period of silent reflection during which; light may be lit but only in the house - window and opening must be covered to avoid light to spread out of the room.
All kind of activities must be avoided and if unavoidable it should only be performed within the perimeter of their own houses.
During this period, everyone must not leave the house except for medical emergencies.
Hotel guests and tourists must stay on their hotels and may enjoy most hotel facilities and services, however guest room windows will have their curtain drawn and outsite lighting at the hotels will be dimmed or off during nyepi period.
Bali International Airport will be closed with no flight operations allowed both for domestic and international carier except for technical and emergency landing including medical evacuation flights.
Bali sea ports will also be closed during this period.
For all visitors who remain and experience this celebration for the first time, take your time in the celebration and as you will experience yourself this way we allow our only earth to rest.
