Far too often as Hotelier Professionals, we think that providing safe and secure hotel for the enjoyment of our guests is simply ensuring that outside hotel perimeters are fully monitored and that access into the building is controlled. We all used to think that the main threats are from outside perimeters.

Indeed, it is true that outside threats exist and they must be prevented, however safety and security inside perimeters - within the building far more important because they influence guest feeling.

Guest's rooms, restaurants and public areas are crucial aspect that influence guest feeling of safety and security. If within those areas guest feels unsecure, no matter how good your outside perimeters check and prevention - guests will still feel that your hotel is not a secure hotel.

Example: Guest losts valuable belonging in the room.

Rooms should be the safest place for the guest, if they experiencing lost items in the room - their overall impression of the hotel in term of safety and security will be completely diferent. Yet, if hotel responses and actions to this incident did not show that there are measurable steps and standards operating procedures available to solve the issue - your overall efforts in providing safety and security no matter how look safe your hotel from outside, it will be meaningless.
